Project management may be defined as the planning, organizing, directing and controlling of resources to complete specific goals and objectives within a specified timeframe.  Perhaps no activity has greater impact on the potential for success of an Information Technology project than the use of disciplined and consistent project management practices.  The Department of Commerce places high importance on professional project management and has devoted significant resources to ensure the success of our IT projects.
